Missed-call recovery · Saint Paul, MN

The calls you miss don’t leave a message. They leave.

DonkeyDesk catches them. Every missed call gets a text in under a minute that sounds like your front desk, answers the question, and books the appointment. On the Front Desk tier, the call doesn’t even get missed — the AI picks up on ring four when you can’t. Done for you. Watched by me. Reported monthly.

You approve every word before it goes live. On the Front Desk tier, you hear the test calls before any customer does.

Most builds go live inside a week. Month-to-month. If it doesn’t catch enough to pay for itself, cancel. Or take the free research first

What each tier looks like from the phone’s side. Illustrative — the words come from your business during setup, not from a template.

7:40 on a Tuesday

It’s 7:40 on a Tuesday. She’s on your website with her card half out of her wallet. She read the reviews an hour ago. She’s decided.

She calls. Four rings. Then the voicemail you recorded in your parked truck in 2019.

She doesn’t leave a message. She goes back to the search results, taps the next name down, and somebody answers.

You never find out. There’s no notification for the customer you almost had. Just a missed-call icon you’ll clear with your thumb tomorrow morning, somewhere between the coffee and the first job.

The math

What is a missed call?

It’s not a phone event. It’s a person who chose you, got silence, and chose someone else. Here’s the math on that, with your numbers, because mine would be a guess.

Start from your kind of business, then correct it:

An assumption, not a promise. Set it where you believe it.

$3,464recovered per month
$41,600recovered per year

Text-Back costs $5,864 in year one. The Front Desk costs $7,664. You can do that comparison yourself.

One sourced number: in Moneypenny’s Small Business Call Report, a survey of 300 small businesses plus call data from 10,000 more, 69% of callers who reached voicemail hung up without leaving a message.

Moneypenny sells call answering, so they have a dog in this fight. So do I. Check the number against your own call log.

Ring four

With the Front Desk tier, the story at 7:40 goes differently.

She calls. One ring. Two. You’re mid-color, mid-crawlspace, mid-deposition. Four.

The AI picks up. It sounds like your front desk because you approved every word it knows. It answers her question, offers Saturday at 10:30, and books her. The transcript is on your phone before she’s put hers down.

And if you’d grabbed the phone on ring two, it would have stayed asleep. Your phones ring first, always. The AI only exists for the calls nobody caught.

How it works

Buy it today. It’s catching calls this time next week.

  1. Pick your tier

Two minutes, a card, and terms written in plain English. You get a text from me — not a portal login — within one business day.

  2. One setup call

Thirty minutes. You give me real answers to the ten questions your callers actually ask — price, hours, insurance, parking. I build the system in your voice. You approve every word before it goes live, and on the Front Desk tier you hear the test calls first. Most builds are live inside a week.

  3. The report

Every month you see exactly which calls we caught, what the conversations said — texts and voice transcripts both — what got booked, and what it was worth. No dashboard to learn. No software to log into. The report comes to you.

Pricing

$447 a month to text back. $597 to answer the phone.

Who’s behind it

One person. On purpose.

I’m Ryan McLaughlin. DonkeyDesk is me: one person in Saint Paul, Minnesota, building AI systems for businesses that live and die by the phone.

I didn’t invent this to sell it. I run my own business — a divorce mediation practice here in Minnesota — and its back end runs on AI systems like this one. I built missed-call recovery for myself before I ever offered it to anyone.

When you hire DonkeyDesk you get me. I build your system, I read its transcripts, I write your report. There’s no account manager because there isn’t anyone here but me.

Questions

Asked by owners, answered straight.

What happens right after I buy?

You get a text from me — the actual person — within one business day. We book your 30-minute setup call, you answer the ten questions your callers actually ask, and I build. You approve every word, hear the test calls on the voice tier, and most systems are live inside a week. If we get on the setup call and this turns out to be wrong for your business, I say so and refund the setup fee.

Will it sound like a robot?

The texts sound like the person who runs your front desk on a good day, because that’s who I model them on. During setup you give me real answers, and the system speaks from those, in your words. The voice tier is held to a harder standard: I run test calls with you and tune it until you approve it. No customer hears it before you do.

Does the AI answer every call?

No. Your phones ring first, exactly like they do now. The Front Desk only wakes up when nobody has picked up by about ring four. If you answer on ring two, it stays out of the way. It exists for the calls nobody caught, not to replace the ones you do.

Which tier do I actually need?

If most of your misses are after hours, Text-Back catches them — people who call at 7:40 at night will text back. If you’re missing calls in the middle of the workday because you’re with a customer, the Front Desk answers them live. Book the 15-minute call and I’ll read your call log with you. Sometimes the answer is the cheaper tier, and I’ll say so.

What if the customer calls back while it’s texting?

Then you answer, and the text thread goes quiet. A human picking up beats anything this system does, every time.

Do I need new software?

No. Nothing to install, nothing to log into, no dashboard with forty tabs. Setup on your side is one short call with me and a small change to your phone settings. I run everything else from my end.

Why not just buy the $97 software that does this?

You can. The text-back toggle and the AI answering exist in cheap tools, and if you’re the kind of owner who will write the scripts, tune the voice, check the failure log, and actually read the reports, buy one of those. I mean that. This is for owners who tried it, or who know they won’t, and want one person responsible for the whole thing. What you’re paying for is that it’s handled.

What happens when it gets a question it can’t answer?

It doesn’t improvise. It takes the message, tells the caller a real person will follow up, and flags you right away. It’s built to stay inside the answers you gave me. When something leaks past that, I see it in the transcripts and tighten it. That’s part of what the monthly fee is for.

The research

Not ready? Take the numbers.

I put the missed-call research in one place: what callers actually do when they hit voicemail, how fast they defect to a competitor, and the honest math on what recovery is worth for a business like yours. Sources cited, no fluff, five-minute read.

One email. The report, then nothing — unless you reply.
